Up in the Sky-It's A Plane It's a Bird-No It's a Plane

After leaving the tranquility of Stephen Foster, we set off down I -10 heading west to Pensacola, where we had booked into the Perdido Cove RV Resort right on the inter coastal waterway.

Calling itself a resort????- more like a big huge parking lot, with strips of grass separating each of the motorhomes.

Tranquility, peace and large spots were nonexistent, with neighbours in very close proximity and I mean CLOSE!!

Peace and tranquility went out the window and into the neighbour's rv!!!

No need to watch our own tv , as  we were able to watch cartoons on our neighbour's outdoor television.

Luckily, we had only reserved for two nights and we were kept busy during the day.

First we headed to the Naval Air Station where we were able to join the throngs of visitors to watch the practice session of The Blue Angels.

With only a track separating the air field from the spectators, we were up close and personal.

I had a chance to go inside

The Blue Angels team was formed in 1946, making it the second oldest formal flying aerobatic team in the world.

During their aerobatic demonstration, the highest speed flown during an air show is 700 mph and the lowest speed is 120 mph except of course, when they slow down to land and stop.

Some of the maneuvers include both solo aircraft performing at once, such as opposing passes (toward each other in what appears to be a collision course) and mirror formations (back-to-back. belly-to-belly, or wingtip-to-wingtip, with one jet flying inverted).

The following picts and videos will demonstrate the agility, ability,  courage and knowledge of the pilots.

Because of their speed it is very difficult to focus and ensure one is taking a video of the jets as oppose to taking video of the fluffy clouds!!

It ended with a well earned salute to the pilots for the fabulous demonstration!

After the show, we visited to The National Naval Aviation Museum-the world’s largest Naval Aviation museum and one of the most-visited museums in the state of
Florida.

It houses more than 150 beautifully restored aircraft representing Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Aviation. These historic and one-of-a-kind aircraft are displayed both inside the Museum’s nearly 350,000 square feet of exhibit space and outside on its 37-acre grounds.

I, of course, could not resist...

Ready for take off

but was demoted to co-pilot!

A great day with lots to see and do.
