Eat, Drink and Be Merry

Today is Wednesday February 11th and despite the not so great Florida weather, we have continued enjoying  new adventures.

Looking back at the week, it seems friends food and drink seem to be the focus of our events.

Last Friday for Meet and Greet, a Mexican theme was introduced, complete with Mexican food, margaritas and sombreros. Olé!

Olé!

Sunday we went to Celtic Ray.
This irish pub opened in 1997 in Punta Gorda and serves a variety of quality imported beers in an atmosphere of an Irish pub. Their menu features traditional Irish pub favourites, made from fresh ingredients and family recipes. Their fish and chips are scrumptious!!

From 2 to 5 (that would be the afternoon and not  during the night) people from near and far, pulled up their lawn chairs and  portable tables in the backyard of the Celtic Ray.
The feature act, this week, was Brigid's Cross -a duo providing an eclectic collection of tunes, featuring Irish songs with a mix of music from different genres and eras.
A beautiful afternoon enjoyed by one and all.

Some enjoying it more than others.

I do have to explain, I have not shrunk as some may think after seeing the video. It was that my chair was the smallest in size-actually mine was a beach chair while others bringing their regular chairs!

One of the many highlights of their afternoon performance was Peggy's Beer Fountain.

hmmmmmm perhaps a new challenge for Elaine?????

Tuesday we had a nice surprise with Anita and Mike, friends we have known for the past 3 years of being at Myakka, arriving from Minnesota.
Unfortunately, they were unable to stay for the winter as Mike's mom was not well. Fortunately, she has improved, which gave them the opportunity to drive down by car  to meet up with old and dear friends for a few days.

Last night, Tuesday we met up with Clifford (Bernie's cousin) and Glenda in Fort Myers, for a night of dining and catching up.
Great time, good food and what a dessert!!!!

It is a huge chocolate chip cookie, straight from the oven, served in its own small frying pan and topped with ice cream, whipped cream nuts and a cherry on the top.

Note Bernie's dessert size as compared to Elaine's dessert.

This one of many reasons I need to continue with water aerobics, cardio and fusion, biking, pickle ball etc.
BURN calories BURN!!

Today, we headed to Boca Grande a small quaint town on Gasparilla Island.

The owners of the many luxury homes, take great pride in well groomed and manicured lawns and beautiful gardens with some unique architectural features.

One of the many attractions of this area, is the abundance of Banyan trees- even have a street named after this famous wonder of nature.

After exploring the town, we met up with Steve and Patti and headed to the beach.

No swim wear, as temps do not allow such luxury, but we did mange to collect some shark's teeth.

Fun days providing us with great memories.
