It is currently about 24 degrees with a soft warm breeze blowing.
GORGEOUS summer or should I say spring day. O.K. Bernie just read this post and informed me that it was actually still winter!
Despite the record breaking temperatures-lows and not highs of this past week and a half,
(temperature in celsius and not fahrenheit for all our non metric friends) ,
we have managed to keep busy.
On one of the warmer days, we spent some time on the beach and even dined on the sand.
We spent some time chatting-as always, hunting for shark teeth and of course eating.
Debbie: Your tablecloth has come in very handy!
Later on that evening, we ate and drank at the Ice House in Punta Gorda. The Ice House is an authentic English styled pub, serving beers from all over the world.
It also features a British themed menu including Fish 'n Chips, Cottage Pie, Bangers and Mash.
99 cans of beer on the wall!
Cheers!
Yes: I am in the picture!
Great day spent with great group of Myakka friends.
On Valentine's Day, Bernie had some beautiful roses delivered to celebrate the special day.
Love was in the air-even for the dogs in the resort.
This is Buddy and Gracie.
It was love at first sniff!
Guinness on the other hand...
Valentine evening, the resort had a dinner and dance to celebrate the special day.
Our group elected to eat early and we were designated as the first seating group.
Finishing our meal, we escaped to the sunset patio to allow the second seating group to eat their meal.
With very cool temperatures, some of us huddled around under the patio heater, while others used different methods.
Each evening during her stay at Myakka, Christy sounds the conch to announce sunset time. Valentine's day was no exception.
After a few drinks, we thought it was time to rejoin the party in the clubhouse. Not wanting to be "normal" we thought it would be fun to announce our arrival with a congo line.
WRONG!!
Our group, led by Christy, danced our way back into the clubhouse, as the second seating group was finishing off their dinner.
Second seating group were not the least bit impressed and met our "fun group" with blank stares and looks of -----------
We had fun, so did not much care what they thought of us.
Lots of dancing, lots of laughing, lots of fun!
Any time it even approaches the thermometer approaches any indication of warmth, we head to the beach to explore, relax and enjoy the beaches of Manasota Key.
Even the turtle decided to enjoy the sunshine and warmth.
Constantly breaking bread and consuming liquid refreshments with friends, always appears to be on the agenda.
To celebrate Anita and Mike's short visit to Myakka, we gathered a group to meet and eat at Farlow's
Restaurant in Englewood.
Really guys!
I guess the boys are discussing what to wear tomorrow!
Ended the evening off by eating dessert at our favourite ice cream place.
Cheers!
On February 17th, Jan and I decided to celebrate Patti's birthday with a surprise party.
With champagne and ice cream cupcakes, we ended the evening with a game of left, right, centre-betting three dollars a shot.
The winners of the pot were shared by Patti and Bernie.
The week went by and included a visit from Isabelle and her friend Mary-Jane who, themselves, are on quite the adventure.
Spending a couple of days in Ft. Myers, they then travelled to Miami to board a cruise ship for three days.
After their cruise, they are spending one night in Ft. Lauderdale, we think and then heading to Cape Coral to spend a couple of days with another friend.
Then homeward bound on Thursday.
Happy travelling!!
The weather is finally starting to cooperate, so hopefully we will spend more time doing some outdoor exploring and partaking in some outdoor adventures.
Stay tuned for Soloman's Castle!
